What Makes Our Pergola Kits Special?

sp;
If you're seeking to construct a pergola, and are comparison shopping, beware of other online retailers that sell simple install pergola kits that are mass produced with cheap timber, coated zinc hardware, steel plates which hold rafters together, and have complex assembly directions.  Here at the Pergola Authority Depot we never use any inferior materials or building practices such as these.  We produce our pergolas with the assignment of uncompromising quality, and have taken every step to make sure your pergola kit will be easy to install, and stand the test of time no matter which part of the nation you reside in.

Pergola kits were originally intended to be utilised in the Central Sydney region where individuals need to take care of extreme weather scenarios all year round like:

    Hurricanes
    The second greatest air salt content in the world
    Daily summer rain/thunderstorms
    Tornadoes
    Winter drought conditions

These elements can be detrimental to the existence of the materials used in exterior products.  So as you can see we have good reason to make sure that our easy install pergola kits have been created with quality materials that could resist harsh elements.  Our pergolas have been engineered to withstand 160 mph wind gusts!

As with all of our kits, we have two distinct lumber alternatives to choose out of: pressure treated pine, or rough sawn western red tight knot cedar.  We only use stainless steel hardware to avoid rotting.  Every kit also includes all pre-cut, pre-drilled lumber that's pre-marked for easy assembly.  It also includes a group of step-by-step directions to lead you through the meeting process.  Our pergola kits are really easy to assemble that two individuals can readily have most kits set up in four hours or less with absolutely no structure knowledge whatsoever.  It's that simple!  So choose your size, and your finish cut preference.  Then decide whether the pergola will probably be going on a terrace, or into the floor, and before you know it you'll be enjoying your garden under a beautiful pergola cut especially for you.

Western Red Cedar is a gorgeous light amber colour.  It has a wonderfully appealing fragrance that adds yet another dimension to its own qualities.  Western red cedar can be highly resistant to decay, making in good for outdoor usage.  It's lightweight with shut, even grain.  It's readily worked and can be finished smooth with little work.  Western red cedar takes stains and paints very well.  Paint or stain can be applied as soon as you receive the pergola kit.  Western red cedar is used in situations where exposure to the components is continually severe.

Pressure Treated Pine is also quite insect and rot repellant, and can withstand intense elements, but has chemicals added to give it those properties.  Pressure treated pine includes a green look.  As it dries it's going to turn to a golden brown, then grey if it is not water stained or sealed.  You'll need to wait a couple of months before painting or staining the lumber since it will be saturated with the pressure therapy when you obtain it.

Will the pergola have to be water or stained sealed?

The lumber doesn't need to be stained or water-resistant but just like with any timber it will weather to a gray shade if not stained or sealed.  To keep the lumber looking it's best we urge sealing it once the initial year, then every 2nd year afterwards.  You can buy a water and stain seal combination from any hardware store which goes on in 1 application and saves tons of time.
Can I stain and water seal the lumber before I set up the pergola?

Should you purchase a Cedar Pergola you can stain the timber before setup because the timber is kiln dried.  If you order a stress treated pine pergola you'll have to wait about two to three months after it is installed in order for the lumber to be dry enough to absorb the wax or stain.
